The art of magic returns to the Glass, or Gialino, Dinner Theater
this month with a production featuring a group of leading professionals of illusion.
Nine magicians, from the USA, China, Germany, France, Argentina and Armenia, make up
a talented panel, under the artistic direction of Juliana Chen, the only woman in history to win
the World Championship of Magic.
At the Glass Dinner Theater, guests will enjoy tricks
by Ed Alonzo, Charlie Frye and Company, Scott and Muriel,
Sos and Victoria Petrosyan, Gaetan Bloom, Dan Sperry, and Inaki Zabaletta.
Los-Angeles-based Ed Alonzo is often compared to Groucho Marx and
Harold Lloyd in termsof his theatrics, while Charlie Fry and his wife Sherry, based in
Las Vegas, carry out aperfectly synchronized routine. Comic duo Scott and Muriel,
USA/Netherlands, became the first couple to win a prize for magic, FISM Grand Prix,
and the first illusionists to collaborate with the Cirque du Soleil.
Despite their youth, Sos and Victoria Petrosyan, Armenia/Germany, are highly
established contemporary Quick Change variety performers, while Frenchman
Gaetan Bloom is known for his inventiveness. American Dan Sperry works his
magic with birds and lastly, Argentinean Inaki Zabaletta is a master of card tricks.
Ed Alonzo (Los Angeles): The misfit of magic.
Although his first love is magic, many people may recognize Ed as a television actor. He was one of the stars of the NBC sitcom Saved By The Bell and was a regular on the CBS Saturday morning children's program XUXA. This multi-talent entertainer has also made appearances on shows such as General Hospital, Full House and he was a huge hit when he played one of the secretaries on Murphy Brown. In addition, Ed has appeared on over 100 major television variety shows ranging from The Howie Mandel Show to The Disneyland All-Star Comedy Circus.
Charlie Frye & Company (Las Vegas):
Internationally renowned variety act specializing in juggling, magic, and physical comedy. Voted Specialty Act of the Year in Las Vegas.
Charlie plays the rubber-faced, put-upon juggler/magician. Sherry plays his elaborately bored, beautiful assistant. Besides being one of Europe's most sought after American specialty acts, they are also in constant demand throughout the United States, where they were named Las Vegas' Specialty Act of the Year for their star billing in the Folies Bergere. Other prestigious appearances have included opening for Liza Minnelli , starring in the internationally syndicated television special, "The World's Top Shows", and a featured appearance in Tom Hanks' film, "That Thing You Do."
Scott & Muriel (Holland):

Cirque du Soleil just featured Scott & Muriel in their latest television series, Solstrom. (They were the only illusionists Cirque asked.) Their show consists of entirely original illusions, thought up and built by Scott & Muriel, combined with side splitting visual comedy. The first comedy act ever to win the coveted Grand Prix at the 2000 World Championships of Magic (out of 140 competitors!) their work has taken them from Tokyo to Monte Carlo to Las Vegas.

Three time winner of the Award of Merit from the International Brotherhood of Magicians, one of the youngest magicians to headline the Magic Castle in Hollywood, California, awarded as an International Champion by the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas when he was 17, completed a National Tour of Canada, and is the youngest magician to be featured in The World's Greatest Magic Show in Las Vegas: Dan Sperry is not your average magician.
Inaki Zabaletta (Argentina):
He started his studies in magic at the age of nine with
the great master Ricardo Martin . He has worked for
corporations like Vichy, Bacardi, Renault, Philips, Microsoft, Fevert, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Jameson, Lexapro,
Chandon, Super Sol… developing his promotional show. Inaki Zabaletta has also performed in prestigious hotels and restaurants such as the Sheraton, Costa Galana, Hilton…In theatres eg. Teatro municipal de Necochea, Teatro del complejo La Plaza (Bs. As.) Teatro de casa de Vacas, La Cripta Mágica … and in Cruce line Grand Voyaguer of Iberojet with his close up show and stage show.
He has presented childrens shows and the history of magic for children in several educative centers and theatres, and workshops of initiation in magic.
He had interventions in Argentinian TV and Spanish TV in the Todo Madrid programme.
He has done specific conferences and galas for magicians in several countries around the globe eg. Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Finland, The Netherlands…
Now he lives in Madrid and combines the performance of his shows with teaching
in the School of Magic of Ana Tamariz.
